Vasil Shanto

Vasil Shanto (1913–1944) was an Albanian communist leader and a hero of World War II. He was one of the leaders of Shkodër communist group and one of the founders of Albanian Communist Party.[1] He did much work in organizing the resistance units and recruiting nationalist figures. Serving as an emissary of Albanian Communist Party, he was sent several times abroad, keeping ties with other regional communist organizations. He was killed in action on 1 February 1944.[2]
